Morocconus nobilisDescription: The Order Agnostida is represented in Morocco by only a few taxa. This one is distinctive enough to serve as an index fossil, with its own zone: Mocconus notabilis Zone. Once known as Cephalopyge notabilis, the genus was preoccupied by a nudibranch. The species was placed in Morocconus much to the dismay of the original describer who was in the process of authoring a manuscript to correct the oversight, but was scooped in what he termed an instance of “nomenclatural piracy”.
