Ogygopsis typicalis TrilobiteDescription: Not only is this a rare Nevada trilobite species, it is found in a truly remote location. The Groom Range borders the infamous Area 51. (Yes, the Area 51 of UFOs, black ops etc.) Ogygopsis typicalis is an index fossil and is closely related to the world famous Burgess Shale trilobite species, Ogygopsis klotzi.

This robust specimen has lustrous black skin framed by the dark gray surrounding shale. It is fully 3D and inflated. Like almost all found, it is a molt missing its free cheeks. The plate was sheared and the some of the thorax and pygidium are missing.
