Eccoptochile Museum TrilobiteDescription: Here is one of the more uncommon trilobites of Morocco: Eccoptochile, a cheirurid of the family Phacopida. Thed genus is best known from deposits in Spain and Portugal. While some sources claim only the species clavigera as valid, others contest that premise, with the name E. mariana for this Moroccan taxon to be favored. This one has been prepared in freestanding mode showing off all of its remarkable features in a 3-D display. It took one of Morocco’s premier preparators a total of THREE WEEKS to free this specimen from its entombing matrix an effort which I which I am sure you will agree was well worth it.
