Rare Xiphogonium Proetida Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: Unusual example of a member of the Order Proetida, Family Tropidocoryphidae known as Xiphogonium, a rarely seen taxon. This one looks to be the similar to X. trautensteinensis which is known from Morocco, the Czech Republic, and Germany where it is sometimes referred to as “Trautensteinproeus”. Trilobites from Jorf have only been well known for the last decade or so, and few fro the region have as yet been described, so I am loathe to assign a species to this one. It is a rare taxon, with this being the only one I have been able to secure from Jorf to date. See my other listings for another Xiphogonium specimen, this one from Jebel Issoumour.
