Eremiproetus Proetid Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: Interest in the location known as Jorf i n Morocco has skyrocketed in recent times, leading to a plethora of new and rare trilobites. This one was identified for me as a member of the genus Eremiproetus, and is the first of its kind I have ever seen. Typically, specimens of the genus from either Morocco or the Czech Republic are simply cranidia, making a complete example such as this most unusual. It displays the rose coloration common to some trilobites from the region. It should be borne in mind that while the location Jorf is given, the term applies to several quarries, which accounts in part for the variation in coloration seen. The Proetidae were among the last of the trilobites to go extinct in the Permian over 100 million years later.
