Acadoparadoxides levisettii TrilobiteDescription: While Morocco is most famous for its Devonian trilobites, its history extends back to near the beginning of trilobite evolution with examples such as this one, a member of the Order Redlichiida called Acadoparadoxides levisetti. The species was named for Riccardo Levi-Setti, a name familiar with trilobite collectors. While he is an emeritus professor of physics at the University of Chicago, his long passion for trilobites has resulted in several fine photographic atlases of trilobites from around the world. One of the highlights of my book collection is a copy of his most recent work which he autographed for me. A rarely offered species, it would make an excellent addition to any collection of trilobites from the region. It is a very well-preserved part/counterpart example; the half to the left is the positive.
