Chlustinia keyserlingi Description: Here is one of the more rare trilobites of the Order Lichida, Family Odontopleuridae known as Chlustinia keyserlingi. This particular example is quite unusual due to the fact that the specimen suffered calcite intrusion post deposition. Like a jigsaw puzzle if you look closely you can see how the pieces would mate up if the calcite were removed. I think it makes for an eye-catching specimen with the contrast between the dark specimen and the white intrusions. Notice that the librigenae are tightly attached, a sign of a well-articulated specimen. It is quite prone, and dominates its bed of matrix. Few are ever offered; I have seen about a half dozen personally in the last 15 years, few as well-preserved as this example, which is exceptionally 3-D for an Ordovician trilobite.
