Description: Fine example of a member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae known as Paralejurus hamlagdadicus with many fine details present. The species name is derived from the formation in which the type specimen was found. The taxon is distinguished from that termed “Paralejurus Tyupe B” in having shortened genals and a rounded cephalon. Preservation is excellent with fine eye facets present. The streamlined shape of this trilobite is thought to have aided it in burrowing through the seafloor in search of a meal. The hypostome (anchor for mouthparts) is present, and is quite visible due to the contrafled position of the specimen. I have been told that an intact hypostome such as this is only seen in one of every FIFTY specimens. It is only the second I have been able to offer.
