Acadoparadoxides levisettii Description: While Morocco is most famous for its Devonian trilobites, its history extends back to near the beginning of trilobite evolution with examples such as this one, a member of the Order Redlichiida called Acadoparadoxides levisetti. The species was named for Riccardo Levi-Setti, a name familiar with trilobite collectors. While he is an emeritus professor of physics at the University of Chicago, his long passion for trilobites has resulted in several fine photographic atlases of trilobites from around the world. One of the highlights of my book collection is a copy of his most recent work which he autographed for me. A rarely offered species, this one was identified for me by the premier West Coast collector of Moroccan trilobites, and would make an excellent addition to any collection of trilobites from the region. It is a very well-preserved part/counterpart example; the half to the left is the positive, with the last two individual photos of the negative side. It is the first I have been able to offer.
