Pseudocryphaeus Moroccan TrilobiteDescription: Elegant example of a member of the Order Phacopida, Family Acastidae with many fine details present. Notice the fine eye facets present on this specimen. The Asteropyginae recently have undergone revision. This one is far different from the trilobites collectors have long known as Pseudocryphaeus in that this one looks as if it had taken growth hormones making it triple the size. In point of fact those diminutive trilobites have been moved to the genus Minicryphaeus It has a distinctive rostrum present, as shown in the photos, which is shorter than those found in Minicryphaeus who presumably were compensating for their small stature. It is closest to Psuedocryphaeus munieri, but that taxon has longer pygidial spines. The rich dark brown exoskeleton is well-contrasted to the beige matrix.
