Lichas marocanus TrilobitesDescription: This plate displays a rarely seen example of a trilobite found in the Ordovician deposits of Tazarine, Museum Lichas Trilobite Death AssemblageMorocco. Lichas maocanus is not frequently offered and a multiple such as this is almost unheard of. We have here a dorsal example and three ventral specimens, two of which are essentially complete. Note the displacement of the right genal as well as the presence of the hypostome on the largest ventral specimen. A robust hypostome is thought to be a feature of predatory species, allowing them to crack the shells of their food source. The only repairs are a pair of cracks that occurred during collection in the field.
