Solnhofen fossil Fish Ascalabos voithiDescription: This is a very well preserved specimen of one of the less common species of Solnhofen fossil fish. The matrix was cracked and repaired through the thorax of the fish. These deposits were formed in a warm salt-water lagoon. All kinds of plants and animals were incredibly well preserved, including soft-bodied organisms and the world's most famous fossil Archeopteryx, an early bird.
