Description:
The Green River Formation fauna is one of the wonders of the
fossil world. Here is a fantastic multi-specimen plate showing
why. This Maple leaf is five lobed. There is some damage to the
right two lobes. The petiole is mostly complete. This is an uncommon
Green River leaf fossil species. The leaf itself is quite large
with excellent detail, good color and wonderful presence. The
other two specimens give the plate an added dimension of interest
and wonder. The Aleurites is in the upper left hand corner, and
the Allophylus in the right hand upper corner. They give testament
to the vast array of fossil leafs found in this formation.
The
Green River Formation holds one of the world’s
richest depositories of fossil leaves, plants, vines and aquatic
vegetation.
My provider alone shows over seventy species he collects. Surely
there are many more to found. Not only is the variety of plant
life phenomenal, the preservation is often superb. The Green River
fossils I am offering are collected with the permission of the
property owner on privately held land.
