Eodamanitina destobesiDescription: This is an example of the dalmanitid trilobite Eodalmanitina destombesi from the classic Volongo site in Portugal. The trilobites from the region are typically flattened due to compressional forces to the matrix. While this one is most planar, there are a couple of unusual features preserved. Notice the left eye with facets and the long tailspine, both features only rarely preserved, especially in a single example such as this. The species was named for the French trilobite researcher Jacques Destombes.
