Destombesina tafilaltensisDescription: Elegant example of a member of the Order Phacopida, Family Acastidae with many fine details present. Notice the fine eye facets present on this specimen. The Asteropyginae recently have undergone revision. This one looks much like Pseudocryphaeus minimus (see my other listings), but with several differences. The eye has fewer lenses per vertical file, and a pronounced pygidial spine.. It has a distinctive rostrum present, as shown in the photos. The rich black exoskeleton is well-contrasted to the gray matrix. To see another trilobite whose rostrum would put Pinocchio to shame see my listing for Morocconites.
