Selenopeltis Long-Spined Trilobite Description: This plate displays a rarely seen example of a trilobite related to the more common (but still rare) Selenopeltis found in the Ordovician deposits of Mount Boutshafrin near Alnif, Morocco. This one is different in large measure due to the sweeping pleural spines projecting from the rear segments nearest the pygidium, and the more gracile overall size. Very few are found each year, and even fewer find their way into the market, as they are often snapped up by collectors before leaving the African continent. This one is a perfect example of the type, offered at a bargain price.
