Diademaproetus antatlasius TrilobiteDescription: Fine example of a member of the Order Proetida with many fine details present. The most diagnostic feature of this taxon is the shield-like rostrum. It is quite similar to Cornuproetus, but this feature is enough to see it is not the same (see my other offerings). While known typically as Dimuproetus, the correct genus is Diademaproetus, derived from the perceived resemblance of the rostrum for a crown (diadem). The Proetidae were among the last of the trilobites to go extinct in the Permian over 100 million years later.
