Thysanopeltis TYPE CDescription: A member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae from the Devonian deposits of Taouz, Morocco, this is an ENTIRELY NEW Thysanopeltis . It is distinguished by the fringing pygidial spines from Scabriscutellum, and from Scutellum by the ribbing of the pygidium. What makes this one distinctive is the fringing spines of the pygidium, something seen in only two other trilobites from the region, the uncommon Thysanopeltis speciosa and Thysanopletis Type B. . The difference here is the robust nature of the spines. This one is only the second I have been secure. For an example of Thysanopletis speciosa seen prepared in freestanding mode please see my other listings.
