Lochovella deckeri Description: Well-preserved example of a member of the Order Phacopida, Family Phacopidae, with fine preservation. This trilobite was prepared by Bob Carroll, a world-renowned preparator of Oklahoma Devonian trilobites. Others may use less care, resulting in a less desirable specimen. This trilobite was once assigned to the genus Reedops, but is differentiated from that genus by several features: Lochovella has well-developed tubercular ornamentation as seen here, distinct glabellar furrows and a squatter cephalon. Whatever you choose to call it, this is a fine example with many excellent eye facets. The piebald coloration is entirely natural.
