Thysanopeltis Trilobite Type CDescription: A member of the Order Corynexochida, Family Styginidae from the Devonian deposits of Taouz, Morocco, this is an ENTIRELY NEW Thysanopeltis seen only in the last few years. It is distinguished by the fringing pygidial spines from Scabriscutellum, and from Scutellum by the ribbing of the pygidium. What makes this one distinctive is the fringing spines of the pygidium, something seen in only three other trilobites from the region, the uncommon Thysanopeltis speciosa, and Septimopeltis (Thysanopeltis Type B). The difference here is the robust nature of the spines. This one comes from Jorf, a location that has recently been found to be the home of numerous unusual trilobites.
