Walchia Plant FossilDescription: This is an example of a cypress-like plant known as Walchia. The name Walchia is actually a form genus for a group of fossil plants of the Order Voltziales that later gave rise to the conifers. The region from which these remarkable fossils come has been closed to collecting; the only way to acquire one now is from an old collection, as is the case here. The repaired cracks detract but little from the large example.
