Sinoeugnathus Triassic Fish FossilDescription: This fine armored fish comes from the same strata as the swimming reptile Keichousaurus (see my other offerings) which is the source of the specific name. It is a member of the Amiiformes, an order which has as its sole extant member the bowfin Ania calva. The giant fossil fish Leedsichthys is thought to be a distant relative. Notice the excellent detail to the scales and fins.
