Stonefly Insect FossilDescription: The Daohuguo Beds in Inner Mongolia have yielded a fauna much like that of the somewhat younger Yixian Formation. This example is a member of the Stoneflies, Order Plecoptera. The members of this family are known from the Early Jurassic to Early Cretaceous of Asia, and comprise some 16 species in 5 genera. Their closest living relatives are the Capniidae and Leuctridae who display the same delicate venation. Note the preserved coloration to the abdomen.
