Carboniferous Fossil InsectsDescription: This exceptional specimen is an undetermined insect nymph from the Carboniferous deposits of Sosnowiec, Poland. Notice the highly curved immature wings which are bent back over the body as well as the detailed segmentation of the abdomen. Nymphs are difficult to attribute to the adult forms even today, making this enigmatic example all the more difficult to key out. Whatever it may be, you can be sure that it is a rare example of life of the dim past, one that few museums, much less individual collectors could ever hope to obtain.
